ABANDONED AMUSEMENT PARK

There is something very Scooby-Doo about an abandoned funfair,a magnetic attraction to take a look inside.
On a recent cycle ride with my son Toby,we came across this small disused amusement park.
It was fenced off so we walked around the perimeter to take some photos, then discovered a hole - no one about, so in we went !
The only camera I had was my i-phone and thought this may be a good subject to give Instagram my first try out, so here they are with a bit of Earlybird and a touch of fake tilt shift !

Auschwitz Foundation

I worked with So Design to produce a series of images for the Auschwitz Foundation. A very memorable trip with the winter landscape adding to the moving atmosphere.

The shots formed part of a successful international fundraising campaign, for the preservation of Auschwitz as a historical site of remembrance. The work was also selected for AOP and D@AD awards.

LET SLEEPING DOGS LIE

Do dogs dream and if so what about ? A discussion we were having in the garden recently while watching our dog sunbathing.
My son Callum and I came up with an idea.Would she do same in the studio under artificial light and could we build a dreamscape around her ?
Well, we tried an 800W lamp and she laid down just the same !
For the scenes, we looked at references from Gullivers Travels,Sci Fi + Ray Harryhausen film etc.
So using simple props,we lit and prepared the set then took her for a long walk. In a quiet studio, she naturally went to the heat of the lamp and fell fast asleep.
We had to work quickly as all these are done in one shot, using Photoshop just to tidy up and for colour treatment.

WADWORTH 6X

For a new advertising campaign,we had to take a comical look at creating three characters, who perhaps should question their current choice of drink !
This involved castings, building mini sets, sourcing props / costumes,as well as building a pub in the studio to create the perfect pint.....Good fun and lovely to be working with Dave Lang + Bevan Mawby again.

PHOTO POD

Recently I built a photo booth to shoot a large number of corporate portraits.
The job was very successful and as I regularly get asked to take portraits, I developed this a little further...
....and now within my studio, I have built the 'Photopod', a high end portrait studio in a retro photo booth! Thanks to Danny Jenkins at Thirteen for the graphics.

Designed around a flattering lighting set up, it incorporates a wind machine and a monitor so that you can see the shots as I take them.
The sessions are lively, fast paced and interactive. The confined space of the booth adds a fun element.
Even the most reluctant of models quickly relax and enjoy the shoot, resulting in great looking natural portraits. New Website - Photo Pod Portraits

LANDSCAPES

I’m very happy that spring is just about here, although I do love taking photos when the weather is a more dramatic throughout autumn + winter. Many of these are taken during early morning cycle rides and often the only camera I have with me is an iphone!
