Edinburgh Street Photos

Recently during a working trip to Edinburgh, I had a few hours to kill waiting for the flight home.
It was a lovely day, the tourists were out in force and a few quirky observations presented themselves, so I started to take some photos.....

Always puzzles me when folks spend more time looking at their screens than the actual scene....

Orange - Street Art

Delighted to be involved on this Orange 2012 project with So Design
Creative director Steve Haskins produces illustrations that are painted full scale onto urban buildings, making use of existing architectural features.
Quite an organisational mission for Steve and team, as before anything can be painted / filmed / photographed. Locations, permissions and access first need to be sorted.

Shot over 2 weeks in Birmingham and Bristol, it was fascinating to watch the artists in action, at great speed they reproduced the illustrations in exact detail and scale, simply working from A4 prints.

An enjoyable and productive day at Halliford film studios Shepperton.
Capturing behind the scenes reportage photos during the filming of a commercial and also setting up a stills studio to photograph individual portraits of the 4 players.

ESSENTIAL KIT - GAFFA TAPE

......It seems that everyone is a budding photographer these days.
Now and again especially working in public places, you can find yourself trapped by those unaware of your demanding schedule, who wish to discuss the finer merits and full technical details of cameras and lenses etc perhaps even wish for you to browse their i phone shots!
It's distracting and in extreme cases when I'm politely unable to break away, it's sometimes tempting to imagine just a small strip positioned horizontally across la bouche!

ABANDONED AMUSEMENT PARK

There is something very Scooby-Doo about an abandoned funfair,a magnetic attraction to take a look inside.
On a recent cycle ride with my son Toby,we came across this small disused amusement park.
It was fenced off so we walked around the perimeter to take some photos, then discovered a hole - no one about, so in we went !
The only camera I had was my i-phone and thought this may be a good subject to give Instagram my first try out, so here they are with a bit of Earlybird and a touch of fake tilt shift !

Auschwitz Foundation

I worked with So Design to produce a series of images for the Auschwitz Foundation. A very memorable trip with the winter landscape adding to the moving atmosphere.

The shots formed part of a successful international fundraising campaign, for the preservation of Auschwitz as a historical site of remembrance. The work was also selected for AOP and D@AD awards.
